Afya Foundation efforts in Ukraine

Earlier this month, eighteen New York rabbis brought Afya Luggage for Life bags packed full of lifesaving medical supplies to the Ukraine-Poland border.

The Organization: Afya Foundation

The Cause: Afya Foundation is supporting the Ukrainian medical community and refugees seeking aid. Righteous Crowd previously funded Afya Foundation in 2020 and 2021. In the 2020 interview, Founder and CEO Danielle Butin said: "Afya's heart beats tikkun olam. We believe it is our responsibility to respond to those in need, wherever and whoever they may be."

The Reason: Afya serves as a hub for donated medical and surgical supplies being requested by the medical frontline in Ukraine.

We must thank the UJA-Federation of New York for their incredible partnership these past weeks.

UJA’s sponsorship of our Disaster Response Hub and our Ukraine response has allowed us to get hundreds of pallets of supplies out the door for Ukraine.

In addition, countless members of the UJA community have joined us in the warehouse to sort medical supplies for Ukraine, and just last week, UJA sent 18 New York rabbis with Afya Luggage for Life bags packed full of lifesaving medical supplies to the Ukraine-Poland border. The rabbis worked with cultural NGO Stowarzyszenie Folkowisko and mayors in Poland and Ukraine to get supplies into Ukraine.

This work would be impossible without our community of supporters, movers, and shakers.
